Countless artists are currently using their own work to spread some holiday cheer, and Masego has just joined the list. A new video for the Grammy-nominated artist’s recent track “Favorite Tings” puts an edgy trap jazz spin on the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein composition, which first appeared in The Sound of Music and is now a holiday staple. “Favorite Tings” goes beyond the classic lyrics, putting his own spin on them:
He recently earned a Grammy nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album for his Studying Abroad project, and has amassed over two billion streams worldwide in his career.
Masego released his official debut album Lady Lady in July of last year, which featured SiR, De’ Wayne Jackson, Tiffany Gouché, and FKJ. TrapHouseJazz singer hasn’t been silent since then, as he has provided appearances on several singles in the past two years, including “Stickin’” Sinead and VanJess “Good & Plenty” Alex Isley and Jack Dine, “Golden Ticket” Brasstracks and Common, along with his own singles “Veg Out” and “King’s Rant.”
In recent weeks, Masego has awarded plenty of assists throughout the league. Among his appearances is a feature on Sinead Harnett’s new project Ready Is Always Too Late, on the song Stickin’, alongside VanJess.” ‘Sego also collaborated with ELHAE for the track “My City.”
