In the days leading up to the holiday weekend, Kevin Gates shared another spectacular freestyle with his fans. As it happened, the song is set over the instrumental of Nardo Wick’s breakthrough song, “Who Want Smoke?”, a Mike Emkay-produced offering that complements Gates’ bar about life on the streets:
Another TeamxIncome-directed clip also appears on the freestyle, where Gates and his crew mob around the city in the nighttime. I have created this video to serve as a reminder to anyone who believes Baton Rouge’s emcee has lost his edge.
Several months ago, Kevin Gates released the sequel to Only the Generals Gon Understand, the sophomore LP from his Only the Generals series. In 2019, his second LP, I’m Him, made landfall. It’s 17 tracks long and was released back in 2017. As a result, Gates’ now-Gold album had his fourth top ten entry overall as well as being among the top five of the Billboard 200 during its first week. At present, he is supposedly working on a follow-up to I’m Him, which will be the long-anticipated Khaza.
