Missouri government officials have requested that Mark McCloskey’s and Patricia McCloskey’s law licenses be canceled indefinitely.A Missouri couple who waved their firearms at Black Lives Matter protesters became infamous last year.
Alan Pratzel, Missouri’s chief disciplinary counsel, mentioned the 2020 event in his Monday (Sept. 20) filing. His wife pleaded guilty to criminal harassment and was fined $2,000 for prior pleading guilty to criminal harassment and minor fourth-degree assault.
In response to Pratzel’s complaint, which was filed against the couple for public safety violations, the attorney general said the couple showed a “lack of regard for public safety”. The McCloskeys were also accused of “moral turpitude” in his document, along with the statement that their “guilt remains” despite Missouri Governor Mike Parson’s pardon.
McCloskeys’ home was attacked by protesters in June of 2020 following the murder of George Floyd by police. A semiautomatic pistol and an AR-15-style rifle were found outside the couple’s home, according to their indictment. The confrontation did not result in any shootings or injuries.
They maintained their innocence even after they pleaded guilty in June.
After his hearing, Mark said he would do it all again. He is running to become Missouri’s next Republican senator. “Whenever the mob approaches my house, I will do anything I can to make them fear for their lives. That’s what has kept them from destroying my family and house.”
Tuesday evening (Sept. 21), the couple reiterated their statement, saying the governor’s pardon validates their actions.
The couple’s attorney Joel Schwartz suggested that Mark McCloskey would behave exactly the same way if he were in the same situation.”He believes the pardon vindicates the actions he took.”
