The collaboration track “Roadside” from Mahalia and AJ Tracey was released at the end of September. Mahalia quickly became one of the most popular tracks of the year, and now she is back with an acoustic take on the track. When Mahalia sings about heartbreak in her stripped-down version, her vocals can be heard clearly:
Mahalia has been releasing her studio albums for over a decade. Her last album, LOVE AND COMPROMISE, featured 13 tracks and was supported by Terrace Martin, Hamzaa, Lucky Daye, Ella Mai, and Burna Boy. During her Isolation Tapes release last year, three previously unreleased tracks were made available for fans to enjoy. A couple of his new singles have also been released recently, “Jealous” with Rico Nasty and “Whenever You’re Ready,” making us hopeful for a new album in the near future.
Mahalia shared her perspective on her own artistry earlier this year during a telephone conversation. She said, “I expect greatness out of my music.” I remember once hearing someone say they came into the studio every day stating, “I want to make excellence.” I was thinking about that for quite a while. The feeling of achieving excellence, no matter what the circumstances are, or the expectations are, is what drives me.”
