When Soulja posted the song on YouTube, he didn’t expect the success it would have, he revealed to DJ Nyla Simone on a special bonus episode of “Off Top.” “I didn’t expect that people would like it much. I was just being myself. There was no way out of the trenches without that. I was like, ‘How can I get my music out there,’ but I couldn’t get on the radio. It wasn’t on TV. Therefore, I had to take all of the phones and the internet,” he said.
